Medical Operations Division
Starlight MED provides mission-based medical operations including emergency response, medevac, search & rescue, and angel flights. Professional, purposeful, and always ready.
MED operations span emergency response, critical care transport, and humanitarian support. Choose the missions that fit your flying style.
Critical patient transport from remote or accident sites to medical facilities. Time-sensitive, high-priority operations requiring quick decision-making.
Locate and extract individuals in distress. Mountain rescues, wilderness recovery, and disaster response operations in challenging terrain.
Move patients between medical facilities for specialized care. Scheduled transfers with medical equipment and staff coordination.
Compassionate transport for patients requiring non-emergency medical care. Charitable flights connecting patients to treatment.
MED primarily uses SayIntentions.AI and its included SkyOps utilities to manage and play missions. SkyOps provides mission scenarios, location spawning, and realistic emergency contexts that integrate seamlessly with the ATC system.
For pilots who don't have or don't want SayIntentions, MED maintains a dedicated voice channel on Discord. Coordinate missions, report status, and communicate with dispatch through our community radio channel.
MED operations primarily use helicopters for access to remote locations, short-field operations, and rapid response. Rotorcraft provide the flexibility medical missions demand.
For long-range inter-facility transports, MED maintains liveries for select business jets. When distance matters more than access, fixed-wing aircraft provide speed and range.
Note: There isn't a physical mechanism to roleplay medical procedures in the simulator, so the "medical" aspect is narrative-focused. MED is about the flight, the mission context, and the immersive experience of purpose-driven operations.
MED uses roleplay-oriented ranks based on flight hours. These are cool-sounding titles that reflect your experience and commitment to the program.
Entry level — 5 hours of MED flight time required
Experienced operator — 50 hours of MED flight time required
Veteran status — 100 hours of MED flight time required
Remember: Progression is purely roleplay-focused. There's no enforcement mechanism, no locked aircraft, and no required checkrides. These titles are here to add flavor and give your MED flying a sense of growth and accomplishment.
MED is available to Starlight Regional Airways members who have completed New Pilot onboarding. You can fly MED in addition to or instead of standard SRA routes.
